The former Summerset Manor is slated for demolition, opening up a prime piece of real estate in the heart of Summerside for potential development.

“We are still open to good ideas for development of the property,” said Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar. “Taking down the old building -- which was not salvageable -- is the next step to exploring great development opportunities that will benefit the community over the long term.”

The former Summerset Manor building has been vacant since January 2013. The demolition contract has been awarded to AJL Contractors Ltd, which is preparing the building for demolition. Work will be completed by the end of October.
