For this electrician, there was no place like home

It was the beaches of eastern Prince Edward Island and getting back to his family that lured electrician Terry MacGreggor back home from out west.

MacGreggor, 30, moved back to his hometown of Souris to start his residential, commercial and industrial electrical company TMG Electrical with clients from all over Kings County.  He hasn’t looked back.

“I was raised here and I had a good life- it’s nice and quiet and safe, these communities are close,” he said.

He wanted his nine-year-old daughter Gracie to have a similar upbringing.

“It’s hard for kids to get into trouble and not have everybody know about it in a small town.”.

MacGreggor now employs three and sometimes four people out of his home office.

He credits word of mouth for making his business so good.

“There is something to do every day, and during busy times we bring in an extra electrician to make sure we keep up with quality and speed,” he said.

MacGreggor studied to become an electrician at Holland College. After a brief stint as a machinist he fell in love with electrical work and followed his career path.

Although he doesn’t have a lot of time for hobbies as a young business operator, he does enjoy the beautiful beaches in the summer and spends most of his time in rinks watching ringette and hockey in the Winter. He recently got engaged.

“There are lots of reasons I want to be here – it’s just a great place to live.”
