Increased truck traffic on Riverside Drive

Le contenu suivant est seulement disponible en anglais.

Motorists are asked to drive carefully on Riverside Drive in Charlottetown due to increased truck traffic throughout the summer months.

The trucks are transporting gravel needed for several large-scale projects. Drivers should practice safe driving habits around large trucks, such as allowing adequate following distances and avoiding entering a roundabout next to a tractor-trailer..

Truck drivers are reminded to clean excess product off fenders and tailgates so gravel does not fall off while driving. Trucks are being regularly checked to ensure their cargo is secured and that all equipment is in safe working order to control the leakage of product onto the highway.

“Road safety is very important to the department and all Islanders,” Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar said. “I thank motorists for their efforts to drive safely and the trucking industry for complying with rules and regulations – so that everyone gets home safely every day.”
