PCH lifts visitor restrictions

The Prince County Hospital (PCH) has lifted visitor restrictions as staff and patients continue to recover from gastro-intestinal illness.

“We are very pleased that all patients and staff who had been experiencing symptoms of gastro-intestinal illness are now well on their way to recovery and that there have been no new cases since late last week, which is why we are lifting visitor restrictions,” said Tara Ferguson, provincial infection prevention and control supervisor.

“We appreciate that the visitor restrictions have been difficult for patients and their loved ones, and we extend our appreciation for their cooperation and understanding. We also want to recognize our staff who responded quickly and worked diligently to protect the health and safety of everyone at Prince County Hospital.”

It is extremely important that everyone coming to the hospital - including visitors and persons coming in for tests, x-rays or ambulatory procedures - clean their hands before and after entering a patient’s room, a department, and upon entering and leaving the facility.

Alcohol hand rinse stations are available throughout the hospital for this purpose.
