Public encouraged to provide views on energy strategy

Le contenu suivant est seulement disponible en anglais.

The public is being encouraged to provide views on the latest draft of a new energy strategy, says Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar.

“Energy touches the lives of all citizens, and it is important for government to hear their views as we prepare a new strategy to take us into the future,” said Minister Biggar. “I want to thank all those who have already commented on the first draft of the strategy and assure them that their input has been invaluable.”

A public consultation is being held at the Farm Centre on University Avenue in Charlottetown on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Copies of the latest draft of the strategy are on the Energy Corporation website at www.peiec.ca. Comments can also be made on-line, or by phone or fax until July 15. There have been four public consultations to date, with more than 100 participants.

The Energy Corporation is working with companies Dunsky Energy Consulting in partnership with Power Advisory to develop the strategy. A final report is expected in late July.

The strategy will be comprehensive in scope, with a focus on sustainability, energy efficiency and conservation, renewable energy alternatives and economic benefits. It will be integrated with the provincial climate change strategy.
