Second 'Build a Better Home' event in Stratford
The second “Build a Better Home” panel discussion and Q&A will be hosted by the Town of Stratford and efficiencyPEI next Monday, February 13
The free event examines how we can design energy efficient homes in Prince Edward Island that conserve energy, reduce our environmental impact and save money. All are welcome to attend but the panel discussion may be of special interest to contractors, people building or considering building a new home, or those renovating/retrofitting an existing home. The first of the sessions in Charlottetown late last month drew more than 250 people.
“I am pleased to see the growing level of interest in energy efficiency and conservation,” said Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy Minister Paula Biggar. “The provincial government offers a number of incentives for homeowners to reduce their energy use and save costs.”
Energy efficient homes allow Islanders to reduce their day-to-day energy consumption and be more efficient with the energy that is used, regardless of the heating source. Energy efficient homes cost less to operate and are a key factor in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping the province meet its energy and climate change goals.
The Stratford “Build a Better Home” will take be at 7 p.m. on February 13 in the Southport Room at Stratford Town Hall. Panelists will include Andy Collier, energy program officer at efficiencyPEI; Patrick Carroll, Director of Planning at The Town of Stratford; and Terry Perry, passive house contractor at Trout River Homes.
The panel will focus on saving energy and minimizing environmental impacts through design, energy efficiency and community planning.
