Statement on Auditors General report on Atlantic Lottery Corporation

The following statement was made by Finance Minister Allen Roach on the report of the four Atlantic provinces’ Auditors General on the Atlantic Lottery Corporation.

"The Auditors General of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador today released the results of their joint audit of the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC). The last audit of ALC by Auditors General was in 1996.

"Our priority is to have a safe and responsible industry that operates in the best interests of Islanders and Atlantic Canadians.

"I appreciate the work the Auditors General put into conducting the audit.

"We are taking active steps to ensure that the Atlantic Lottery Corporation is accountable and transparent in its operations, consistent with the high standards of governance that Islanders and Atlantic Canadian expect.

"Prince Edward Island will continue to work collaboratively with the other provinces and Atlantic Lottery Corporation to ensure a well-managed, safe, and responsible lottery and gaming industry that operates in the best interests of Islanders."
