Visitation remains limited at Kings County Memorial Hospital

Le contenu suivant est seulement disponible en anglais.

Kings County Memorial Hospital is maintaining precautions and limited visitation while some patients remain ill with influenza and others continue to present with flu-like symptoms.

Until further notice, all visitors must check in with the nurses’ station upon arriving and must also wear a gown and mask before entering a patient's room. The situation will be reassessed on Friday, during which time a further update will be provided.

Visitors continue to be limited to:

• immediate family members only;
• two visitors at a time, per patient;
• approximately 15 minutes per visit; and
• children over age 12.

Anyone going to the hospital should clean their hands when entering and leaving the facility, and before and after entering a patient’s room or a department.  Alcohol hand-rinse stations are available throughout the building for this purpose.

Health PEI reminds Islanders that it is not too late to get a flu shot, which  is the most effective way to prevent getting sick with influenza. Islanders can make an appointment with Public Health Nursing by calling 1-855-354-4358. Family physicians and local pharmacies are also providing flu shots; please call ahead to make an appointment if necessary.
