Flags and Lighting

Lighting
Decorative lights on the façade of the Shaw Building, located at 95 Rochford Street in Charlottetown, change from white to a specific colour or combination of colours to mark an annual holiday or occasion or a one-time community event. Non-profit and community-based organizations can make requests for lights on the Shaw Building and will be accepted at least 30 days in advance of an event and approved according to provincial lighting criteria. To review criteria and submit a lighting request visit: Request Lighting at Shaw Building
Flags
At provincial government sites, flags are lowered to half-mast to show solidarity and support for a community in crisis, observe the anniversary of a tragic event, or to commemorate the death of a well-known citizen. Visit Provincial Flag Protocol for more information.
In special circumstances, in addition to the provincial flag, flags of other populations or organizations are raised to demonstrate support for their cause, bring awareness to a significant public event or highlight a special occasion.
