MyHealthPEI Privacy Statement

This privacy statement is intended to provide information on how your personal information (PI) and personal health information (PHI) is collected, used, disclosed and handled in connection with your use of MyHealthPEI.

MyHealthPEI, in accordance with the PEI Government Privacy and Security Policy and Health PEI’s Statement on Privacy and Your Personal Health Information, maintains the privacy of individuals' personal information and personal health information (PI/PHI) while collecting, using, and disclosing information in compliance with the provincial Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Health Information Act.

The Department of Health and Wellness and Health PEI take care to ensure that your PI/PHI is protected and will only collect, use, or disclose your PI/PHI in a manner that is in accordance with the above-stated legislation and policy.

MyHealthPEI enables you to access your health information. In order to utilize MyHealthPEI, you must first register with the MyPEI service. Information on the MyPEI service can be found at www.PrinceEdwardIsland.ca/MyPEI.

Collection of PI/PHI

In using the MyHealthPEI service, the following PI/PHI may be collected as permitted by section 31 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and sections 17-21 of the Health Information Act as applicable:

  • The PI/PHI you provide via MyHealthPEI, including when you
    • voluntarily enter information such as health details or notes,
    • voluntarily connect a third-party device, or
    • submit a request for support.

Use of PI/PHI

We will use your PI/PHI only as necessary to operate the MyHealthPEI service, which includes:

  • providing you with the MyHealthPEI services you request, including access to your health information,
  • maintaining your account,
  • communicating with you (including via notifications with your consent), and
  • troubleshooting technical issues.

Disclosure of PI/PHI

MyHealthPEI does not use or disclose your PI/PHI to any person or organization or for any other purposes unless it has your consent (for example, if you consent to sharing your personal health information with a trusted friend, family member, or health care provider via MyHealthPEI) or is otherwise authorized or required to do so by law.

Requesting Corrections to your PHI

We support the right of individuals or their authorized representatives to access and request corrections to their PHI, subject to any specific restrictions in applicable legislation. You can submit a request for correction of your personal health information online.

Does MyHealthPEI collect, use or disclose any other information?

You may be invited to complete customer surveys to help improve the MyHealthPEI user experience. These surveys will be entirely voluntary and you may decline to participate at any time.

MyHealthPEI uses Google Analytics to collect anonymous technical information which may include active user and session statistics, approximate geolocation, and browser and device information. This anonymous technical information may be used for purposes such as understanding usage patterns, undertaking quality assurance activities, enhancing product capability and performance, and statistical analysis and reporting. If you wish, you may opt-out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Add-on for your web browser. Alternatively, you may configure your web browser settings to block the use of cookies.
