Off-Highway Vehicle Pilot Project
The Department of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy (TIE) is working with the PEI ATV Federation on a pilot project to allow use the of select portions of provincial highways to link sections of the Federation`s trail system together.
TIE has developed regulations for the Off-Highway Vehicle Pilot Project which allow members of the Federation to access selected highways under a restricted permit with a number of terms and conditions. The goal is to allow safe travel from one trail to another.
The Pilot Project will provide TIE the opportunity to evaluate the integration of Off-Highway Vehicles and determine appropriate legislation if a permanent solution is thought to be safe for everyone.
