Access PEI Cornwall helping Island residents access virtual health care
Islanders on the provincial patient registry without a primary care provider can now receive assistance and attend virtual medical appointments at Access PEI in Cornwall.
The location in Cornwall, which opened in March 2025, has two private spaces equipped with internet, a computer, desk and chair and employee support to assist people in accessing virtual health care services. The site also has one accessible space and a waiting room.
“We recognize that not everyone may know how to use the technology needed to access online medical appointments. This service provides real-time support to those requiring extra assistance. Access PEI locations already provide Island communities with access to various public services, making the site in Cornwall a great fit to provide this service.”
— Minister of Health and Wellness Mark McLane
This builds on existing health care services at Access PEI locations including PEI Health Card applications, provincial patient registry registration, and unaffiliated virtual care program enrollment.
“Islanders can feel more confident when they can get in-person help to access important medical services, such as virtual appointments with doctors and nurse practitioners. With that support, accessing health care services becomes easier, less stressful, and more welcoming for everyone.”
— Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Ernie Hudson
Island residents will be required to pre-book private spaces at the Cornwall Access PEI site by calling 1-833-734-1873.
