Environment award nominations open
If you know someone who goes above and beyond to protect the environment, nominate them for a Prince Edward Island Environmental Award.
Nominations are open for this year’s awards until May 1 in three categories: individual, organization, and school. To nominate someone, download the online nomination form or call 902-368-5028.
“The Prince Edward Island Environmental Awards are an opportunity to give well-deserved recognition to Islanders who are working hard to protect and enhance our environment,” Communities, Land and Environment Minister Robert Mitchell said. “We all have a role to play in protecting our environment and I look forward to honouring those who show how Islanders can work together to accomplish great things.”
To be eligible for an award, the individual, school or organization must be instrumental in:
• identifying, reducing, solving or avoiding an environmental problem;
• demonstrating consistent responsible environmental management practices; and/or
• promoting public awareness, understanding and active concern for the enhancement and protection of the environment.
In addition, the review committee will also consider the nominees’ long-term service and commitment, voluntary contributions, and innovative approach. Award recipients will be chosen by a selection committee composed of members of the Environmental Advisory Council.
