Hundreds of appointments still available for children 6 months and older to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before September

Health PEI is encouraging Island parents of children and students who are not yet up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines to take advantage of appointments still available at clinics across the province this month.

Starting today (August 17) and through the end of August, there are more than 250 appointments available at Health PEI-run COVID-19 vaccination clinics, including more than 30 appointments for children 6 months to 5 years of age and nearly 120 appointments for children 5 to 11 years of age to get their first or second dose. Approximately 105 appointments are still available for individuals 12 years of age and older to get their first, second or booster dose of the vaccine.

Health PEI is also reminding all Islanders that is important to ensure their COVID-19 vaccinations are up to date, including booster doses if eligible, to reduce their chances of getting moderately to severely sick from COVID-19. Islanders who have not received a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in at least six months are encouraged to get an additional dose. 

Island residents can book an appointment for their child or themselves at an upcoming clinic either online or by calling the COVID-19 booking line toll-free at 1-844-975-3303. Vaccination appointments can also be booked for individuals 12 years of age and older with any partner pharmacy. 

Islanders are reminded that it should be at least eight weeks since their first dose before they get their second dose. It must be at least six months since receiving a second dose before individuals 12 years of age and older can receive a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

Islanders who need to cancel or reschedule their appointment at a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic can do so through the online booking tool or by calling the COVID-19 booking line toll-free at 1-844-975-3303, or by connecting with the pharmacy where they booked their appointment.
