Islanders invited to give feedback on internet access
The provincial government is asking members of the public, communities, businesses and service providers to share their feedback on proposed actions to improve internet access for people in Prince Edward Island.
The 2021-2025 Broadband Connectivity Discussion Paper outlines gaps in broadband infrastructure across the province and proposed actions that could be taken to ensure all areas have access to high-speed internet.
Islanders are invited to submit their feedback regarding the proposed actions until September 17, 2021 in one of the following ways:
- online survey; or
- written comments by email to myinternet@gov.pe.ca, fax 902-368-4242; or
- by mail to: Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture, Re: Broadband Connectivity Discussion Paper, PO BOX 2000,105 Rochford Street Charlottetown, PE C1A 7N8
“Islanders from across the province are encouraged to send us their thoughts on what we can do to improve internet access on Prince Edward Island. We’re always open to hearing new ideas on how we can ensure Islanders have access to high-speed internet, so we look forward to hearing from you.”
- Minister of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture Matthew MacKay
The Province has committed to reaching 95 per cent of civic addresses with high-speed Internet by June 2023 and 100 per cent of civic addresses by 2025. High-speed means download speeds of 50 megabits per second or faster and upload speeds of 10 megabits per second or faster.
