Islanders invited to share thoughts on land use
Islanders are invited to share their experiences, priorities, and ideas to help guide how land is used, protected, and developed across Prince Edward Island.
Starting September 8, the government of PEI will launch public engagement on land use. Islanders are encouraged to join conversations on key topics like housing, climate change, coastal protection, farmland preservation, and community infrastructure.
“Our Island is growing and that puts pressure on our most limited and valuable resource - our land. We want to ensure we can support sustainable growth and set up future generations for success.”
- Minister of Housing, Land and Communities, Steven Myers.
The first phase of engagement will run from September 8 to October 17, 2025, and offers several ways for Islanders to share their thoughts and priorities, including:
- An online survey - Islanders can share their views through a short questionnaire
- Pop-up events - such as farmers’ markets, community gathering places, recreation facilities and public spaces will offer quick, informal ways to get involved
- Sounding boards - displays with QR codes will be located at local spots across the province for people to learn more and leave comments
- Workshops - in-person sessions where people can explore land use trends and offer feedback

“This isn't about government telling people what to do with their land," said Minister Myers. "We want Islanders to tell us what’s working, what’s not working, and what matters most when it comes to our shared land. Every voice matters and I encourage everyone to get involved.”
Further opportunities to participate in the land use discussion will happen in early 2026.
