Province enhances beef industry’s competitive edge
The Government of Prince Edward Island is investing in the future of the Island’s beef industry by helping Atlantic Beef Products Inc. (ABPI) modernize its infrastructure.
As Prince Edward Island’s agriculture exports continue to grow year over year, reaching a record $1.05 billion in international exports, investments in advanced processing technology are essential to maintain industry competitiveness.
Through a provincial $1.5 million loan and $175,000 in non-repayable grants, ABPI will have the necessary funding to purchase and install advanced deboning technology that will help increase processing speed and operational efficiency.
These infrastructure upgrades will help ensure ABPI remains competitive with larger processors across Canada, while also enabling them to process beef products using halal methods. This will expand ABPI’s market reach regionally, nationally, and internationally.
