Public input wanted on proposed personal services regulations
The provincial government is inviting the public to provide feedback on draft regulations for personal services in Prince Edward Island.
Personal services include hair, esthetics, nails, piercings, tattooing, and body modifications. The purpose of the proposed regulations is to establish infection prevention and control standards to reduce health hazards that could endanger or transmit illness to clients or service providers.
This is an important step in protecting the health and safety of Islanders by ensuring consistent standards across the personal services industry. Reducing the risk of infections and other health hazards helps safeguard both clients and providers.
Islanders can review the draft regulations and submit written feedback by January 2, 2026, at Personal Service Regulations Consultation Draft.
Development of the personal services regulations began last year and they will be established under the Public Health Act. They are expected to take effect in February 2026.
