Tick information session for outdoor enthusiasts
PEI is currently considered a low risk area for Lyme disease, but if you find a tick attached to you, do you know what to do?
Dr. Greg German, Infectious Disease Physician with Health PEI, will be one of the featured guests at a free educational event to help Islanders learn ways to protect and enhance forest bird habitat, and avoid tick bites.
Julie-Lynn Zahavich, Island Nature Trust’s Stewardship Coordinator, will share results from an ongoing study into woodland bird communities, with a focus on forest-nesting species at risk, the Canada Warbler and the Olive- sided Flycatcher.
Zahavich will also provide tips for woodlot owners who want to protect and enhance habitat for forest-nesting birds.
Sponsored by the PEI Woodlot Owners Association, the session is open to woodlot owners, forestry workers, watershed groups, citizen scientists and everyone who loves spending time outdoors.
