For the past 10 years, Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) has been providing Island parents with practical tools to raise their children in safe, loving and predictable environments.

The program has many success stories, thanks to its individualized approach that fits the needs of every child, teen and family.

Provincial program coordinator Toria McGillivray says Triple P has been a valuable resource for both new and experienced parents.

“The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive,” she explains. “Many parents share that they feel more confident, less stressed, and better equipped to handle common parenting challenges. They frequently mention how the strategies have helped reduce conflicts at home and improve communication with their children.”

Triple P is a parenting program used across Canada and around the world. Whether you need help developing a bedtime routine for your toddler or have a teenager going through life-changes that feel unmanageable for you, Triple P has a positive parenting approach.

“The most common concerns I hear from parents when they initially reach out for support include supporting children with anxiety, setting boundaries and managing conflicts,” McGillivray explains. “We’ve also noticed more parents seeking support around screen time management, social skills and online safety.”

Triple P has seen tremendous growth since its inception on PEI, McGillivray says. Since becoming program coordinator, she’s seen first-hand how important it is to parents.

“Its focus on building confidence in parenting skills while also promoting positive family relationships really resonated with me,” she says.

Triple P’s evidence-based approach provides parents with practical strategies and tools that can be used immediately, she explains.

“From the early implementation stage to becoming a well-established and widely utilized resource, the program has made a meaningful impact on countless families across PEI,” she adds. “Celebrating this milestone is a testament to the dedication of practitioners and the resilience of parents who have embraced the program.”

Looking ahead, McGillivray says she’s excited to expand accessibility, launch new programs and strengthen community partnerships that continue to support parents and children across the province.

“The program is flexible, which allows parents to choose the level of support they need, whether it’s a light seminar or more intensive group sessions,” she says. “What makes Triple P stand out is its focus on positive reinforcement and building strong, nurturing relationships. It’s not about being a perfect parent, it’s about being a confident and resilient one.”
