Request a Health Care Futures Student

Site applications are now open.

The Health Care Futures Program exposes Grade 12 graduates and post-secondary students to health care fields in Prince Edward Island.

Is my health care facility eligible to apply?

Summer full-time work placements (37.5 hours per week) starting in June (11 weeks) and July (8 weeks) are offered to eligible students currently enrolled in a post-secondary health program and students who graduate Grade 12 in June and plan to pursue a health career.

The Health Care Futures program is committed to providing a well-rounded, full-time work experience to students pursuing a career in health care.  If you do not have enough work to accommodate a student full-time, please consider sharing or rotating duties and work hours among other areas within your facility.

What is the deadline to apply?

Deadline to apply is 11:59 AST on February 15th, 2026.

What do I need to complete the online request form?

In addition to your current contact information, you will be asked to provide:

• A name and contact information for the individual supervising the student(s);
• The name of your health care facility and worksite/department;
• The number of students you are able to hire; and,
• A list of duties the student(s) will be expected to perform.

When will I know if a student has been placed at our site for the summer?

You will receive confirmation of student placements by early May 2026.
