Farmers, businesses and other property owners who meet program requirements may apply for hedgerow planting. The program provides the planting of trees or shrubs to protect soil from wind and rain erosion, prevent runoff from entering streams and rivers, and create windbreaks for buildings and livestock. Islanders with a low-income may be eligible for a free electric hot water heater for their homes. To be eligible, you must have an annual household income of $100,000 or less, you must own your home, and it must be your principle residence.
