The application intake for the following BMP will close for the 2024/2025 fiscal year as of June 28, 2024:
1.1    Spring Tillage of Forages

The Agriculture Stewardship Program is designed to increase environmental sustainability, and climate change mitigation and adaptation, by providing technical and financial support to the development, promotion and implementation of Beneficial Management Practices (BMPs). Activity areas include soil conservation, climate change mitigation, soil health, nutrient management, integrated pest management, riparian management, water quality, water use efficiency, and on-farm product and waste storage. The program will support environmental protection activities and promote the sustainable use of natural resources. Approved projects are funded on a cost-shared or per acre basis.

Am I eligible to apply for Agriculture Stewardship Program funding?

The following includes a summary of program and funding eligibility. Before completing the application form, please review program and funding criteria in the Agriculture Stewardship Program Guidelines .

Eligible Recipients

  • Mi’kmaq First Nations and other Indigenous groups;
  • Agricultural landowners; 
  • Agricultural producers; and 
  • Others may be considered upon request.

NOTE: Recipients must have valid Environmental Farm Plans (EFPs).

2. MANURE AND LIVESTOCK MANAGEMENT
2.1 Manure Storage Systems (Merit-based Selection)
2.2 Covered Feedlots and Exercise Yard
2.3 Improved Silage Storage 
3. AGROFORESTRY
3.1 Innovations in Agroforestry 
4. WATER AND SUPPLY MANAGEMENT
4.1 Alternate Livestock Watering Systems
4.2 Riparian Fencing and Livestock Stream Crossings 
4.3 Stream Crossings for Farm Machinery 
4.4 Water Use Efficiency and Water Treatment
4.5 Water Supply and Irrigation Efficiency
4.6 Water Well Protection Measures
5. INTEGRATED PEST MANAGEMENT
5.1 Pest Monitoring for Data-Based Decisions
5.2 Pest Suppressant Crop at the time of Commercial Crop
5.3 Invertebrate Biological Control 
5.4 Anti-insect Barriers 
6. DEMONSTRATION TRIALS
6.1 Agri-Environmental Trials

What do I need to complete the application form?

Information required for all programs:

  • Applicant contact information;
  • Business or organization information, including CRA registration number;
    • If applicable, Partnership information
  • Project start and end date; 
  • Additional sources of project funding;
  • Recipient type (i.e. primary producer, agricultural landowner, processor);
  • Type of industry (i.e. Dairy, potato, beef, hog, grains and oilseeds);
  • Signature for declaration and consent to personal information; and
  • Demographic information (optional).

Agriculture Stewardship Project Details

  • Complete Appendix A, B, C, D, E, F, and/or G depending on which BMP categories you are applying for and submit WITH the Agriculture Stewardship Program
    General Application Form.
