Coastal Erosion Monitoring
How is coastal erosion being monitored in PEI?
The Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action has collaborated with the University of Prince Edward Island to carry out annual monitoring of coastal erosion since 2015.
How is this monitoring being done?
The monitoring network consists of 104 sites, which includes peg-line measurements as well as acquisition and analysis of Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) imagery (I.e., drone imagery). In addition, acquisition and analysis of RPAS imagery to monitor the effectiveness of erosion-mitigating infrastructure is conducted at 8 sites.
How can I access the information?
