 Producers can face uncontrollable natural hazards during the production year. AgriInsurance is a production insurance program that can help mitigate these risks. AgriInsurance stabilizes a producer’s income by minimizing the economic loss from uncontrollable events like drought, excessive moisture, disease, or insect infestations.

How does AgriInsurance work?

AgriInsurance is a provincially delivered Production Insurance Program. The program is cost-shared by the federal government, provincial government, and producers through the Sustainable Canadian Agriculture Partnership Agreement - Business Risk Management. The Prince Edward Island Agricultural Insurance Corporation (P.E.I.AIC) administers the program. 

Who is eligible?

Insurance is available to any producer who meets P.E.I.AIC’s eligibility requirements. Insurance applicants are required to provide legal, operational, and financial information.

Field and Spring Crops

How do I sign-up?

Call the Agricultural Insurance Corporation office at (902)836-0439 or email AICInsurance@gov.pe.ca and the office will put you in touch with an Agricultural Insurance Officer. You must submit a signed application accompanied by the required deposit to the Corporation before the sign-up deadlines listed in the table below. To learn more about sign-up click here.
