Island-wide Public Transit
For PEI to significantly reduce its transportation emissions and reach its ambitious climate targets, we have to change how we move from place to place and ensure accessible, affordable, safe and reliable public transportation options.
The Province of Prince Edward Island is committed to developing a province-wide integrated public transportation system.
With transportation being one of the largest carbon emitters in the province, this initiative is key in reaching PEI’s goal of being the first net zero province in Canada by 2040.
Local and intercommunity transportation services will link workers to jobs, students to schools, shoppers to stores and Islanders to the essential services they need to enhance their quality of life.
As the Province of Prince Edward Island continues to improve and expand our Island-wide transit system we want to hear from Islanders. We are happy to answer any questions you may have, discuss any of your concerns and listen to any suggestions you have to improve our system. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
For Islanders with reduced mobility who have walking difficulties and may require the use or assistance of a collapsible wheelchair, walker or other small assistance devices, drivers or staff will help you board the bus and find an appropriate seat. Please notify the driver or staff that you will require assistance upon arrival.
Passengers who require the use of a wheelchair or scooter are required to pre-book their seat by calling 902-566-9962 or emailing email@example.com.
One Personal Attendant/Companion may accompany passengers with walking difficulties, visual or hearing impairments, or other disabilities deemed to require an assistant or those who cannot travel independently, free of charge. Personal attendant and the passenger requiring assistance are required to travel together for the duration of the trip.
The provincial government has partnered with T3 Transit and Kari to operate two rural public transit routes beginning October 12.
The service will run Monday to Friday and have three round trips per day. Riders must pre-book their seat as the buses only stop at locations where there are bookings.
Riders can pay their $2 fare directly to the bus driver. It is $2 no matter how far on the route a rider travels.
