Critchley, Dr. Kim
Dr. Kim Critchley was appointed Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness in April 2016 by Premier Wade MacLauchlan. A former UPEI Dean of Nursing and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Calgary in Qatar, Dr. Critchley began her new role on July 18, 2016.
Dr. Kim A. Critchley was named Dean and Chief Executive Officer of University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ), in January 2013. She came to UCQ from the University of Prince Edward Island School of Nursing where she served as Dean from 2004 to 2012. She has held adjunct appointments with the University of New Brunswick School of Nursing (Honorary Research Assistant), Dalhousie University and the Memorial University Department of Graduate Studies.
She earned a BSc Nursing from St. Francis Xavier University, a Master of Nursing from the University of Calgary, a Diploma of Primary Health Care and Quality Improvement from the University of Helsinki Department of Primary Health Care, and a PhD from the University of Helsinki Faculty of Medicine.
Her areas of research, frontline experience and professional expertise include primary health care, women and children's health, Aboriginal health, and knowledge translation. Dr. Critchley has extensive peer-reviewed publications and scholarly presentations to her credit.
