Home Oxygen Program
If you have been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and have been prescribed oxygen, you may be eligible for coverage of expenses through the Home Oxygen Program.
Am I eligible?
You are eligible for the program if you:
- are a PEI resident as defined by the Drug Cost Assistance Act;
- have a valid PEI Health Card;
- meet the clinical criteria; and
- a specialist has prescribed you oxygen.
If you are a palliative care patient, you are eligible for coverage even if the hospital provides some of your equipment.
How do I apply for assistance?
You and your physician must complete the Home Oxygen Program Application form [PDF | 76 KB].
How much of the cost will be covered?
You may be subsidized for up to 50 per cent of your approved home oxygen expenses to a maximum of $200 per month.
Where can I get my home oxygen supplies?
Once approved, you will deal directly with the supplier and pay your portion of the expense. Your home oxygen supplier will then bill the program for the remaining expense.
Will I get a refund for home oxygen supplies I already purchased?
Coverage is not retroactive; you will not be reimbursed for supplies you have already purchased.
What if I move away from PEI?
Your eligibility for this program will end the day you leave PEI to take up residency elsewhere.
