Driving Schools in PEI

The Highway Safety Division is responsible for licensing and monitoring commercial driving schools and instructors. There are 10 driver education schools, a truck/bus driving school and 41 driving instructors.

The driver education school instructors are responsible for testing for class 5 drivers’ licences. The schools conduct approximately 2,800 knowledge and behind-the-wheel tests.

Truck-driver training schools are governed not only under the Highway Traffic Act, [718 Kb] but also by a regulatory system under the Private Training Schools Act, administered by the Department of Workforce and Advanced Learning.
