Community Energy Solutions for Business, Commercial and Community Buildings

To help communities become more sustainable, we are expanding energy efficiency solutions to businesses, community centres, agricultural operations and more. These incentives help with energy efficiency advice and rebates so these organizations can be efficiency leaders in their community. In addition to the incentives below, rebates are also available for energy efficient products for businesses and commercial buildings through the Business Energy Rebate.
efficiencyPEI and Net Zero incentives are changing as of June 2, 2025. For a list of changes, visit Adjustments to Net Zero and efficiencyPEI rebates. The following page reflects the incentives available as of June 2, 2025.
How to apply
- Apply before you begin your project. Send the application form to efficiencyPEI along with copies of the last 12 months of electricity and heating fuel bills and your payee registration form.
- efficiencyPEI will assess your application and connect you with an energy auditor for a free ASHRAE Level 1 commercial energy audit. Once the audit is complete, send in your audit and quotes for the project.
- efficiencyPEI will notify you of approval to begin work. If your organization could benefit from a custom community energy solution, efficiencyPEI will be in touch to discuss further.
Incentives
Starting June 2, 2025, this incentive is as follows:
Community Energy Solutions may cover up to 50 per cent of the total energy efficiency upgrade cost, up to $75,000. These incentives could help with energy savings projects like upgrades to heating systems, optimizing ventilation, thermostats and controls, and more.

Eligibility
Buildings owned and operated by businesses, institutions, municipalities or non-profits may be eligible.
Applicants will get a free energy audit by one of our approved energy auditors.
If your organization has any special projects in mind, make sure you let your energy auditor know. Once your energy audit is complete, you will get a list of project recommendations along with estimated savings and cost. Most projects that reduce energy consumption will qualify.
All projects must be approved before purchase or install and you must have a signed agreement with efficiencyPEI to begin. Businesses and organizations remain eligible for Business Energy Rebates and Solar Electric Rebates.
Up to 100% funding is available for eligible community centres to install heat pumps through the Community Revitalization Program.
