How do I apply?
You will be referred through Community Mental Health Services.
How much of the medication cost will be covered?
All costs of approved long-acting injectable antipsychotic medications provided through out-patient psychiatric programs are covered by the program.
What if my medication is not listed in the PEI Pharmacare Formulary?
If your medication is not included in the PEI Pharmacare Formulary, it will not be eligible for cost coverage. You will only be eligible for coverage of the approved medications through the Community Mental Health Drug Program.
Where can I get my medication?
Your medication will be issued from the Provincial Pharmacy to one of five sites closest to you. A registered nurse or licensed practical nurse will administer your medication.
You can request to have your medication administered at a doctor’s office. If you go into hospital or a correctional facility, your medication will be administered there.
Will I get a refund for medication I already purchased?
Coverage is not retroactive. You will not be reimbursed for medications you have already purchased.
If your medication is not provided by Provincial Pharmacy, you will not be reimbursed for medications filled at an alternate pharmacy.
What if I move away from PEI?
Your eligibility for this program will end the day you leave PEI to take up residency elsewhere.
