Statement from Minister of Justice and Public Safety Bloyce Thompson

Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Attorney General Bloyce Thompson issued the following statement on Commanding Officer of the RCMP Prince Edward Island Chief Superintendent Derek Santosuosso’s service to the Province:

“On behalf of the Province, and our justice and public safety community, I want to thank Derek for his commitment to furthering the field of law enforcement and keeping Island residents safe over the previous 17 months as RCMP Commanding Officer (CO).

Since becoming the CO in April of 2022, Derek has worked in conjunction with police chiefs and municipal leaders across the Island to ensure that even during our most difficult days, communities kept public protection at the forefront and continued to operate in a manner that keeps our residents safe.

I want to wish Derek all the best as he moves into a new role at RCMP National Headquarters. I know that his work in this province coupled with his extensive experience across the Armed Forces and various law enforcement positions will be a great asset to the national public safety community.”
