Guidelines for Planting Permits for Seed Potatoes Originating From Outside the Province in 2024

A permit for each lot of seed potatoes originating outside of PEI must be obtained from the Minister of Agriculture prior to being planted on Prince Edward Island. This is pursuant to Section 12 of the Potatoes Regulations.

A permit will be issued for each approved lot of seed potatoes that is identified with:

  •     an individual certification number   or
  •     an identifier acceptable to CFIA (i.e. in the case of seed from a State of the United States)

When do I apply for the permits?

Permits must be obtained prior to planting on Prince Edward Island.
