efficiencyPEI and Net Zero incentives are changing as of June 2, 2025. For a list of changes, visit Adjustments to Net Zero and efficiencyPEI rebates

Long-term residential rental building owners are eligible for energy efficiency programs such as home insulation rebates and energy efficient equipment rebates. Winter warming help is also available for low-to-moderate income residents.

Energy efficiency upgrades can help make tenants more comfortable, save money for property owners and reduce the environmental impact of rental buildings.

As of June 2, 2025, long-term residential rental building owners will be eligible for the same rebates as homeowners and can apply for rebates using the same methods as homeowners. Visit Energy Efficient Equipment Rebates and Home Insulation Rebates to begin the process.

Rebates for those who complete work prior to June 2, 2025

There are rebates for long-term residential rental units such as apartment buildings and row houses.

  • mini split air source heat pumps (ASHPs) rebate of $2,000;
  • rebate on insulation for above grade walls of $65/SQ/R-value*; and
  • rebate of up to $2500 on electric hot water heaters.

* for example; increasing the insulation value by R6 on building with an exterior wall area of 4800 square feet (48SQ) would result in a rebate of $65 x 48SQ x R6 = $18,720

Download the application form for full rebate details.

How do I apply?

For those who complete work before June 2, 2025, you apply for the rebate using the Residential Rental Efficiency Rebates application form. Please review technical, program, and eligibility requirements for each rebate before beginning upgrades. Paid invoices and copies of rental agreements for all units must be sent in with the application form. Application forms can be submitted to efficiencyPEI by email to efficiencypei@gov.pe.ca or dropped off at 69 Belvedere Avenue in Charlottetown or any Access PEI location.

If you are interested in financing Finance PEI offers financing for equipment upgrades through the Rental Property Heating Program (RPHP) Loan.

After June 2, 2025, you will apply directly through the Energy Efficient Equipment Rebates and Home Insulation Rebates programs. Visit these pages to get started:
