Ozone Depleting or Regulated Substances License

Ozone depleting or regulated substances are used in many applications, including refrigeration, air conditioning, fire suppression, cleaning of electronics, and solvents. When these substances are released they enter the earth's atmosphere, are broken down by UV radiation, and cause damage to the ozone layer.

What type of license do I need?

There are two types of licenses related to ozone depleting or regulated substances.

License to Handle: If you or your business works on equipment that contains an ozone depleting substance or replacement substance, then you must hold a License to Handle Ozone Depleting or Regulated Substances. 

License to Purchase: If you or your business purchases an ozone depleting substance or replacement substance, then you must hold a License to Purchase an Ozone Depleting or Regulated Substance. 

What is the cost of a license? 

$100 is the cost for a License to Handle an Ozone Depleting or Regulated Substance. 

$200 is the cost for a License to Purchase an Ozone Depleting or Regulated Substance. 

Make cheques payable to the Minister of Finance.

How long is a license valid?

A license is valid until October 31st of the second year after it was issued. 

How long will it take to obtain a license?

Please allow one to two days to process an application for a license.
